Now the race to sign up new voters has come into the open: no less than UMNO’s president is playing the role of cheerleaders for the voter registration campaign! UMNO is the reigning champion, according to EC’s figure last year.  Yet the party still would not mind to stoop low enough to create racial scare to substitute for pep talk to their voter registration campaigners!

Utusan creating another racial scare for Malays-the Government should stop advertising in such a irresponsible press!

UMNO claim that the new voters registration is running at 1:40ratio  for Malay and non-Malays respectively. Many questions: where did they get the info-since SPR never disclose the detailed figures? Is it only UMNO who can get the figures? If so : did they only selectively publicise them? If so again: if they calculate that no one else can get the figures what is there to stop them to distort/make up some figures eg to use racial scare to get Malays to register? Anyway the SPR figures -which may give some reference does not reflect any scarry contrast as claimed by UMNO. UMNO(  24 818 registrations last year) actually is the champion when it come to voters registration, followed by DAP( 17 756 ) and then PAS( 16 987). The comparison of Malay: non-Malays registration could be (24 818 + 16 987 : 16 987=) 2:1. However the race to register voters tend to be youth and West Malaysian centered-East Malaysia where the percentage of non-registration is very high-in fact the highest among all states at 33.8%, has always been neglected by most if not all parties. When they -more than half of them in interior areas, continued to be denied a voice, wonder why West Malaysians are still asking : why Sarawakians complain about being mistreated but they don’t exercise their vote accordingly?

EC’s role in endorsing UMNO’s assertion above can only undermine its credibility as a non-partisan public body.

With an election swirling around like a vulture ahead many things which are unthinkable or put on the back burner can suddenly `happen’: does it apply to the decision to start teaching Iban at university level? (See appended report). Strangely the biggest lack of such teaching is at the school level where there are not enough Iban teachers in Sarawak-most teaching positions-more than half of them, are taken up by reluctant West Malaysians who are suspected as otherwise unemployable! These West Malaysian teachers are given up to Rm15000 `hardship’ allowance for teaching in the interiors-a job which many Ibans already living in the interiors are happy to do without any allowance! Election is an important impetus for many `miracles’-more are on the way!

They control all the printed and electronic media -and yet they are not satisfied. They need also to put their print on the cyber space to project their message. So: BN cyber troopers will be deployed in coming state elections. The story would be similar to the situation on West Malaysia where a few notorious cyber troopers will dutifully ply their trade under thin disguise.
