Dam safety worry raised about Bakun Dam

Bakun ready to generate its first electricity

BAKUN:  Bakun Dam’s turbine-8 will be the first of the eight turbines to generate the dam’s first electricity.

Project developer, Sarawak Hidro Sdn Bhd managing director, Zulkifle Osman said turbine-8 located at the Bakun power house is expected to generate electrical power of 300 megawatt somewhere in July, 2011 if the impounding or flooding permit is issued by the Sarawak government by this month.
