Elections not finished yet-time to separate coffeeshop whingers from real objectors to election results!

Candidates and voters who are dissatisfied of the election results are entitled to file election petition to challenge the election results. The deadline for doing this is May20th. Let’s see who are the whingers in coffee shops and who are principally objecting to unsatisfactory election results. The last successful election petition was filed in 1994 for the Bkt Bangunan election where the losing candidate Donald Lawan manage to overturn the unfair election result.

Candidates Reminded To Submit Election Expenses

KUCHING, May 4 (Bernama) – All candidates in the 10th Sarawak State Legislative Assembly election are reminded to submit their statement and election expenses before May 30.

Deputy Director of the Sarawak Election Commission, Wan Fadillah Wan Ahmad said the results of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly election had been gazetted on April 29.

Land rights violations will become bigger issues in coming general elections!

Kuala Lumpur. Along a mountainous logging track on the northern edge of Borneo, a 500 kilometer-long gas pipeline is snaking its way from Sabah to Sarawak.

The RM1.6 billion ($538 million) pipeline is meant to carry gas from Kimanis, Sabah, to the Petronas plant in Bintulu, Sarawak.

But for the natives who live along the pipeline, it is yet another example of their ancestral land being taken from them for development — whether it be for plantations, dams or a pipeline — without compensation.

BN paying balance of election promise to Sg Asap voters?

15 April 2011, New Sarawak Tribune – Land Development Minister Dato Sri Dr James Masing presented mock cheques symbolising the compensation money to 15 longhouse headmen. Federal and State government would both settle the outstanding loan payments for the longhouses and return the amount they already paid for their houses. The government also decided to reimburse the compensation money they had used up for the loan.
