Santaclaws-who gives and takes in his own terms!

Very otherwise funny things are happening around Bersih rally:

1. Mahathir claimed that the rally may become a Malay vs non-Malay brawl; Perkasa seems more updated than the old man-they claimed that the pro- and anti-free elections clash will be well represented by Malays on both sides; Mathathir who wear a racial blinkers on his eyes all his life seems to be outdated;

2. Ali Rustam, UMNO’s warlord, want to strip Ambiga of her citizenship! He really is someone `pantang dicabar'(can’t accept any challenge).  Is he mentally challenged or egotictically challeneged?

3. Najib made personal attacks on Ambiga as someone who is anti-Islam because she represented a muslim Lina Joy who wanted out of the religion. Does it mean that Najib do not allow any legal representations for muslims who want to get out of the religion if he has his ways? His commitment to rule of laws seems suspect!

An ROS (Registrar of Scoiety)officer Abdul Rahman Othman, announced today  that Bersih as a n organisation has now become illegal under section 5 of the Society Act. The accusations against Bersih are
1.it cause anxiety among the people
2.it does leafleting to advocate the overthrow of the elected government;
3. it has already cause harm to the image of the government, threaten the country’s social order, security, sovereignty, prosperity and racial harmony;
There are no evidences provided-just pronouncements by the ROS. This is the kind of high handedness that Bersih and other democratic minded people have been fighting against all these years.

Najib is doing his road shows to attack Bersih rally purportedly to defend Putrajaya for UMNO/BN-the last being a talk to reported `20 000′ people in Kelantan. No photo to verify the crowd size was available. (Just an aside: why the big crowd attracted to Najib’s rallies never attract the same condemnations of affecting the society as done to Bersih’s rally?)The argument put forward has been the same: Bersih is intended to help Opposition win Putrajaya. Ex-PM Mahathir sing the same tune to a youth assembly, with number unspecified. Looking at this argument it is at most a projection by these politicians who are afraid of a change of power in Putrajaya. They are entitled to be afraid-in view of their bad records at government and also their extended rule -over half a century! While they are entitled to defend their records they are however not entitled to sideline electoral reform no matter if that may favour the Opposition. If they stick to an unfair system all to win the elections they stand accused of the charge that Bersih throw at them! Bersih then has a good reason to insist on the rally since their undisputable appeal for electoral reforms had not been addressed by the leading politicians up to now!
