There are 4 long house communities in Ulu Bakun which refuse to move away from their own NCR land-yet the Bakun Hidro who run the dam want to start filling the dam, with a number of deadlines given so far. The last one was june this year. It will take 8-9 months to fill up the dam. But shouldn’t the NCR issues be addressed before asking the natives to make way and sacrifice for the dam? The natives had gone to Putrajaya to meet with then PM Badawi. They had also challenge their eviction to the Federal Court-with the decision pending. Shouldn’t all the avenues be exhausted before any work is done to fill up the dam?
