The Police are prepared for the eventuality of simultaneous Sarawak state and Parliament elections-so said the No.2 cop in the country. However there are push and pull on the issue which are essentially politically decided. Sarawak/CM Taib definitely prefer to have simultaneous elections so that he can be spared the onslaught from the combined Opposition from West 7 East Malaysia. But Najib/UMNO may want to use Sarawak as a testing stone before he go for the national poll. And UMNO press has been making loud hints of Taib being dispensable for BN to win in Sarawak. So the tussle will continue for a while-but only for so long. The deadline for the current term of the Sarawak state assembly is set in July 2011!
