Was there any political motivation behind Taib the politicina’s marriage with a Syrian born women Ragad Waleed Al-kurdi, when it happen, otherwise, quite oddly ahead of an imminent state election? The effect, for a start, is almost everyone was caught unprepared for it! Few found an agle to frame it-where mostly prefer to leave it as a personal affair. But the unfathomable politics seems to be lurking in the back of people’s suspicius mind. The political tempo was halted suddenly-giving Taib the politician some breathing space from the unending revelation of corruption!
Further down the road there are good chance that Taib will parade his new wife to various public function to shield him from overt criticisms in the presence of his new wife-an outsider. Few will want to involve his wife, who is seen rightly as an innocent party, in their grouses against Taib. And the obliging mainstream media may even `sell’ his new wife as a media focus that will distract the public attention from the almost daily scandals that dog Taib lately.
The way the name, age and personal background of the girl had been withheld from the public seems like a deliberate PR campaign to generate public curiosity -and succeed it has if the strategy was planned as suspected here. A Google search for her name generated 2160 citations-which is a big leap in interests for a hitherto unknown women from Lebanon!
If that were the plan is this an original idea?
Well in a by-election in Bentong some years ago the young DAP candidate actually choose the election as his marriage occasion-so he was literally campaigning with his wife in tow! Even the most ardent critic will be obliged to congratulate him on his bridal status. Is this some bright campaign tactics from some highly paid consultants from one of Taib’s many overseas contacts? If that were the case the poor girl had been made a prop from day one of their marriage life!
