Wong Ho Leng Lodge Report To MACC
Sibu: DAP Chairman, Wong Ho Leng who was newly elected again for the second term as Bukit Assek State Assemblyman went with a group of over 10 newly elected assemblymen and members to lodge a report over vote buying.
Wong went to the MACC building at Federal complex at 3 pm but the two officers who met them refused to let them into the office. The two officers who did not want to be identified said their senior officers were not around and they would take the report.
When asking Wong to go in alone, Wong said in jest that he did not want to fell down from the 7th floor (MACC office) and insisted that four of them went in. He was accompanied by Bawang Assan Alice Lau who lost to SUPP Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, David Wong (Pelawan) and Yap Hoi Leong (Durong).
When Wong asked for media to be present as witness, the MACC officers refused to entertain that. He then said to lodge a report, Wong should go in alone but Wong insisted that David go with him.
Wong later told the press that he had lodged the report as a personal individual and not the DAP. He said once a report had been lodged, he could not talk about it until the case is over.
He claimed that over 100 people from Bawang Assan longhouses had gone to SUPP headquarters on Monday to collect the RM400 promised by SUPP. The longhouse folks were given RM100 earlier on and promised of the rest after the election. Wong said this tantamount to vote buying and wanted the MACC to launch a full investigation.
The Sibu Election Watch who was at the scene on Monday made the same allegation but SUPP Bumiputera unit head, Andrew Shiling claimed that the group were there to collect the wages for doing small and minor jobs for the SUPP during the election.
