Views from the ground on the election

MIRI: The results of the tenth state election continue to become hot topics among the political parties, the ruling governments at both federal and state levels and the people in general.

There have been many views expressed by the party leaders and members but little has been heard from the man-on-the street who holds the voting power.

A film proposal from observers to the 10th Sarawak state elections made it to the top 3 winners for the Freedom Film Fest this year! The film intend to investigate the reason why victims of Bengoh Dam -the impoundment of which was specifically delayed for the state elections, didn’t use their vote to voice objection to the ruling party. The film will be given Rm6000.00 for its shooting. The film’s director is Rapelson who was a Unimas social science graduate who is currently working as a graphic designer and live in Liburan. Other crews of the production team include Felix Roderique, Niloh Asson, Joachim Leong, Ooi Thean Poh and Ong BK-all of whom were observers to the state election. The film was shortlisted as the top 5 proposals before this-where the proposers were interviewed by a panel of judges.
