Despite all the signs that point at general elections being contemplated for later dates there is a school of thought which are wary of snap polls being called ahead of Ramadan ie in July. A sign which seems to confirm this is the statement by UMNO’s no.2 Muhyiddin who seems to prepare their members for the general elections by reminding them of the `pain’ in losing in numerous states in 2008 general elections. It seems intended to prepare their members to fight back to reclaim their glorious days where they monopolise all federal and almost all state power. Above all they are also trying to hit the Opposition when they are not ready from recoveries from the Sarawak state elections. Let’s see if there are more signs than the July`mock elections’ which may turn real!

Muhyiddin warns of tough sell in next GE

KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 — A tougher, more aggressive opposition and savvy voters will make the next general election critical for Barisan Nasional (BN), Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has said.

“The politicking adopted by the opposition which was no longer like before, while the voters had already made up their mind,” he told reporters in Baling today.

Radio Free Sarawak will go for another short break soon in June and return in July with possible expansion plans which may include covering sabah, if not West Malaysia! There will be likely to be on-the-ground reporters to extend its news collection strategy. So watch out!

RFS has provided a platform for Sarawakians to voice their opinions through phone in interviews from London-whihc arguably pack some strong punches on the frontline issues in the last sarawak state elections. Originally targetted to end after the elections the project organisers are now locating fund to extend the broadcast to general elections to finish up their unfinish mission to bring democratic change in Sarawak.

The General Election is in July, folks!

MAY 20 — I wish I didn’t have to say this but better safe than sorry, so I’m going to say it anyway. I honestly hope I’m completely wrong but my sixth sense is telling me that I’m right again.

Yes, despite whatever the prime minister has said, is saying, and will be saying, about the date of the 13th General Election (GE), I dare say that it’s all meant to coax and delude us into believing that it’s not going to be a snap poll.
