Many mainstream media are running the news on Taib’s investigation (see Star report below) -some only report his ministers supporting him while others are also reporting the anti-Taib activities eg the sending of memo to the King by MOCS. Implication: the investigation into Taib’s wealth is helping to popularise the cause of those in and out of Sarawak who want to see him removed for various reasons: plundering the state’s resources, destroying the rainforests, persecuting the Penans etc. Among Taib’s supporters their defense has been unconvinsing eg Karim Hamsah, Taib’s assistant, claim that a long serving politician is entitled to make some money and get rich-through corrupting government resources? Dr Rundi, another Minister in Taib’s cabinet, claim that the investigation is meant to clear Taib’s name-if that were the case all the ministers should be investigated so that their name can likewise be cleared! From a media management perspective Taib is stepping further and further into a mud pond or quick sand, a journey of no return. The `Apco’ or whatever media folks advising the CM is showing how inept they are despite millions of payment!

Group wants Taib investigated
KUALA LUMPUR: A group handed a memorandum to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong calling for an in-depth investigation into alleged corrupt practices by Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
The Movement for Change Sarawak (MoCS) also called on the King to reject any future move in appointing Taib as governor of the state.
The memorandum was handed yesterday.
