Forum for dialogue between East and West Malaysians:
July 8th, 8.00pm, KLSCAH
Sponsors: MEO-Net, KLSCAH SE Committee, BERSIH 2.0
Introduction:Taking advantage of the many Sarawakian activists coming to attend the Bersih rally the sponsors are organising a forum on the eve of Bersih march to facilitate a much needed dialogue between East and West Malaysians at 8.00pm, on July 8th (Friday) at KLSCAH. About 20 Sarawakian activists from all over Sarawak, from the town and interiors, will be around to exchange ideas and experience with West Malaysians. They will also be trying to locate Sarawakians living in West Malaysian who are willing to take up a test case against the Election Commission for refusing to allow postal voting service to this class of Sarawakian voters, using their discretionary power. The EC had allowed spouses of the military and police to use postal votes under their legally provided discretionary power. Videos on Sarawakians’ struggles will be screened.
Baru Bian, newly elected Assemblyman from Ba’ kelalan, Sarawak PKR chief
See Chee How, human / land rights lawyer from Kuching,Sarawak, newly elected Batu Lintang Assemblyman
Ong BK, MEO-Net, recently barred from Sarawak
Sarawakian community activists from various towns and interior areas: Lawas, Limbang, Ulu Baram, Selangau, Bengoh, Tebedu, Sebangan, Simunjan, Sibu, Miri and Kuching.
This is a rare and valuable opportunity to meet so many community activists in one go! You don’t need to go to Sarawak’s interior-they come to you!
Looking forward to see you! Please pass this invite around!
