There will be a debate of sort between Bersih’s Ambiga, Wan Ahmad from EC and a usually pro-BN academic. The debaters are not balanced. Firstly the EC said they cannot deal with 4 of the 8 issues raised by EC-thus the relevant politicians should answer the particular issue. Eg the problem with partisan civil servants-the State Secretaries should answer them. The media access should be answered by the Ministry of Information. The issue of buying votes with government allocations should be answered by Attorney General(MACC already refused to touch); the issue of dirty politics should be answered by the police and the Home Minister. The academic there is simply providing back-up to EC’s Wan Ahmad, judging from his past pro-BN’s tendency.
Is this original? Actually Bersih and other NGO had already debated EC many times-but with the same stalemate. EC said they don’t deal with many issues `not in their field of power’. Why would doing/repeating the same thing give different results????
