Village head elections feature open debates-EC adviced to take a lesson on democratic election!
August 10, 2011 by democracy4now
There will be 2 elections debates on thursday and friday for the village head elections in Selangor, run by the City Councils involved. Open your eyes to more democratic ways of elections:
FYI there will be TWO debates back to back on Thursday and Friday night, 8pm at the basketball court in Pandamaran. Thursday one is organised jointly by eTV.my and state govt, while Friday’s is organised by Pandamaran residents’ association (overhead dominated by MCA fellows).
This must be the most happening election in Pandamaran, ever. 6 candidates: 2 sacked DAP grassroots leaders (Tee Boon Hock and incumbent village chief Yap Hock Siew), one woman candidate Low See Mee (formerly MCA now PKR), 2 existing DAP members Tan Yu Tiam and Tee Kim Huat (seen as Ronnie Liu’s proxies) and one independent Yap Kim Huat. [notice 2 Yaps, 2 Tees, 2 Kim Huats].
There’s also a furore over the state’s dumb age limit banning senior citizens over the age of 60 to stand in the village polls. But of course none of the English and Malay press have picked it up, our media live in different parallel planets.
See those who will be there tmr or friday night. cheers.
