11.11.11, which will not repeat in a century, passed without the much anticipated announcement of the dissolution of Parliament by the PM Najib-but it is no time for complacency! There are numerous challenging development on the electoral front and struggles going on that need more attention:
* Overseas Malaysian students are taking the government to court for failing to register them to vote-this follow the unsuccessful attempt by many of them to register themselves as voters.MCA’s attack on the overseas Malaysians’ voting right rightfully attract negative reactions from both sides of the party divide-serve them right!
*Parliament Select Committee’s concurrence with Bersih on the use of indelible ink has created some momentum in this electoral reform; Bar Council president has also come out to challenge the position of the Attorney General who claimed that Constitutional amendment is needed to overcome objection to the use of indelible ink; The Attorney General is now put on a hot spot to answer these queries!
* PM Najib took opportunity to slam Opposition for speculating about the 11.11.11 election announcement-but he still fell short of committing himself to not call 13th GE ahead of implementing the electoral reforms that may come out of the PSC on Electoral Reform! So voters should stay vigilant about a possible snap poll early in 2012!
