The Chairman of PSC on electoral reform reportedly regret that his report produced over half a year of hard work, was ignored by Parliament, when it was `passed’ without a debate! His picture seems to show that he was close to tears! He actually has more cuase to come to this emotional state than what was reported here. Actually there had been comments when the PSC was started last year that asking junior ministers to head and run a major PSC on electoral reform simply means that the PSC is doomed from the beginning. There was already a precedent: the PSC on Integrity chaired by UPCO’s president Bernard Dompok was ignored even by the government’s department heads!

See Chee How who visited the Bengoh village fired back to YB Jerip Susil who claimed that the new Bengoh villages would contaminate the Bengoh dam meant for supplying drinking water to Kuching. Good arguement to compare with the existing dam. In general the Indegenous people always face the unfair accusation that they, if allowed into national forest reserve or conservation areas, would contaminated the areas like any other human settlement, forgetting that these people have the least `footprint’ among all human settlements and their right to their ancestral lands should not be totally taken away. Accusing them of contamination is a big joke -with the fingers coming from the big time contaminators! Photo from Ann Ann C.j.teo
