pantu Dayaks celebrate their victory at Kuching High Court this afternoon-their land back to their hands now!

Today is one day where the NCR land owners from 12 villages at Pantu District, Sungai Tengah (near Sri Aman) won a case against the encroaching oil plam company after 6 years of court struggle! Over 100 villagers turned up at the High Court of Kuching this afternoon to listen to the 28-page decision from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. The decision by the judge Dato Linton was remarked as a most thorough decision ever made on land cases, by fellow lawyers. It is not known if the fearless judgments from the judge has anything to do with him being sidelined in previous promotion opportunities.

UPDATE: SIC Neews was reliably informed that the police has remanded the father and son on the ground of possession of firearms, despite the fact that Dayaks do usually carry firearms when they go into the jungle. The police is guarding the hospital bed of the 2 bashed up natives round the clock and prevent anyone to speak to them except close family members. News of the detention was only obtained from family members who visited the injured duo-including the wife and daughters of the older man.
